The Hawkdun Range runs across the top of the Maniatoto in Central Otago. This long, symmetrical range is a thing of beauty at any time of the year, especially in the rising or setting sun. But winter is special. On a recent journey through the South Island I captured a different sort of image of the Hawkduns – see these new winter images at Recent Images. Here the snow and mist creates a quite different perspective… These shots involved only a little dirt road driving in toward the Hawkduns from Hills Creek near Idaburn, and behind St Bathans toward Tunnel Hill. Just make sure to use a 4wd in winter or you could get stuck!
